Here is a selection of some of the more interesting projects I have been involved with:

ACQ
Famous Blue
ACQ
Orange Grove Jazz (2007)
This is one of the main bands i play and tour with. We are all close friends and the music and arrangements happen in a very democratic kind of way.

My first solo album. This album mixes live improvisation with textural electronics and computer generated probability based events.

Beautiful compositions and a great band.

I think this was my first recording I did in New York. It was with Chris Madsen (tenor saxophone), Adam Birnbaum (piano) and Jeremy Noller (drums). Perhaps the most distinguishing thing about this recording is that Jeremy had to play drums with a boundary mic gaffer-taped to his chest.

This was the last recording session I played on in Sydney before I left for New York and it was the smoothest most relaxed recording session I have ever done. It featured my good friend and close musical collaborator Spike Mason (saxophones), Phil Slater (trumpet), Jeremy Borthwick (trombone) and Simon Barker (drums). It was recorded in the beautiful Sony Studios and we finished so early that we ended up recording a session of free improvisations as well.

Threedom

Threedom was the first album that i played on and featured Spike Mason on alto saxophone and Simon Fishburn on drums. It was the first group that I played in where there seemed to be a real musical connection between all the players.

The First Unit of Attack
In the mid '90s, there was a group of young Sydney jazz musicians but at the time there were not many opportunities for them to perform around Sydney so JazzGroove was formed to give these artists more exposure. One of the first things they did was release a compilation CD of a bunch of young artists. I was fortunate enough to be playing with four of the featured bands.

Tim Stevens

I didn't actually play on this CD since it is a solo piano recording but I was very happy to find that I made it onto the liner notes. Tim Stevens is a piano player from Melbourne, Australia who for a short time lived in Sydney where he had a trio with me on bass and Simon Barker on drums. The trio made two recordings for the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission). One was a studio recording in Melbourne and the other a live broadcast recording from Perugia, Italy at the Umbria Jazz Festival.

This was the first singer/songwriter album I played on and still think it's pretty cool. One day I was in a discount CD store and saw a whole stack of them for 50 cents each - I still regret not buying them all and giving them away to friends.

EMU
Every Promise

This was a collaboration album between four christian worship song writers. By coincidence it turned out that I played bass for the four of them.
